Brian Viner and his family swapped Crouch End for a dream of rural living in a remote corner of Herefordshire, chronicling their experiences in a series of quirky and revealing columns in The Independent newspaper and subsequently a bestselling book. This culture clash comedy had a versatile cast who played tons of different characters - Londoners, locals and everyone in between.

The show toured twice - first in 2010 and then again in 2011.

Exchanging the rush hour traffic on the North Circular for a rambling country cottage may be the fantasy of many city dwellers, but few imagine in advance the challenges of living miles from your nearest neighbours (and cappuccino-serving cafes) and yet on intimate terms with the mice holding a ceilidh in the attic. Tales of the Country entertainingly charts the Viner family’s transformation from “buggers from off” to some kind of acceptance and over the first year of their lives as born-again country dwellers.
